JERICHO Rosales joined the press at the dinner hosted by Ferlin Buenviaje of Viva after the press preview. One nice thing about Jericho is that he’s less guarded now in answering questions, unlike before when he can be so evasive. He’s now more open about his love son, Santino, and he says one advice he’d give the boy is not to follow his footsteps when it comes to romance. “Para huwag na niyang gawin ‘yung naging mga pagkakamali ko na makakasakit ka ng babae,” he says.

He admits that he has made wrong decisions in his life not only in the way he dealt with women but also when it comes to his career. “I really messed up pretty bad when I said magre-rest muna ako sa acting and people thought hindi ko mahal ang career ko as an actor. Well, bumangon naman uli ako and now that I’m back with a film like ‘Baler’, I can say that I really learned from my experience.”

It’s obviously a humbling experiences as he acknowledges that, career-wise, he’s now only third to co-ABS actors Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz. “Hanga talaga ako kay Piolo for being so focused in his career at si John Lloyd naman, he has amazing sensitivity for someone still so young.”

Since “Baler” is about “bawal na pag-ibig”, has he done a lot of “bawal” or forbidden things in his life? “I don’t want to dwell on the mistakes I did in the past. Basta ngayon, ayoko nang gumawa ng bawal. I admit marami akong nagawang bawal before, but I firmly believe that the Lord has forgiven me for that so I want to say Thank you, Lord. I also want to thank him and the public, too, for giving me another chance.”

It’s common knowledge that he’s been on with three actresses: Kristine Hermosa, Cindy Kurleto and Heart Evangelista. Who would he like to return to if he’s given the chance? “Regarding Kristine, what happened to us was beyond my control, it’s something to do with her side. (It’s said Kristine’s family is against him.) Ngayon, parang exciting na balikan siya, but given another chance, parang mas babalikan ko ‘yung huli kong relationship (Heart) at siguro, mas aayusin ko na ‘yung mga bagay sa sarili ko na may kinalaman sa naging relasyon namin.”

Heart, Jericho ‘headaches’ on the set?

Freehand IS it true production people who work with ex-lovers Jericho Rosales and Heart Evangelista are now having a hard time with them? On the set of “Baler,”  it was reported that Jericho refused to make the sign of the cross in a scene where he’s  supposed to be praying in front of an altar and to do hot love scenes with Anne Curtis. Heart also refuses to do love scenes with Mark Anthony Fernandez in “Luna Mystika” and it’s said she has other demands that some GMA folks are now regretting   getting her  to work with them. The reason given is said to be the fact that they’re both Christians and doing such scenes is against their spiritual beliefs. But how come Piolo Pascual, also an avowed Christian, has done sizzling love scenes with Angel Locsin in “Lobo” and also in their new movie, “Love Me Again” (formerly “Land Down Under”)? If they’re really so devout in their religious beliefs, we advise all Christians to look for other jobs because showbiz is really such a worldly place. As actors, they shouldn’t have too many limitations as this would constrict their craft in front of the camera. Better go into some other more wholesome vocation where you won’t be required to make believe that you’re portraying a role other than yourself.
