MAINSTREAM, INDIES – Showbiz authority Mario Bautista notes that in 2008 the total of Pilipino films was 84, only 28 mainstream and 56 indies. Mario B enumerates them:

Eight entries to the ongoing Metro Manila Film Festival – ‘Baler,’ ‘Magkaibigan,’ ‘Dayo,’ ‘One Night Only,’ ‘Desperadas 2,’ ‘Iskul Bukol,’ ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll X,’ ‘Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat.’

The most meaningful entries to the filmfest are ‘Baler,’ which won most of the awards, and ‘Magkaibigan,’ which gave Christopher de Leon the best actor trophy.

This early, award-giving groups should take note of the good films of 2008.
