MANILA, Philippines – It was always a childhood dream of mine to become an actress; I would sit in front of the mirror and practice how to emote and cry then I would show my tears to my parents,” Heart Evangelista recalls fondly. At 14 years old, after much convincing on her father’s side, Heart took acting lessons and signed up with ABS-CBN a year later. Almost immediately she became a hot commodity on TV and in the movies. At age 15, a star by the name of Heart Evangelista was born.
Not many people know that Heart lived in San Francisco until she was about eight years old. When she moved back to Manila, she immediately faced challenges. “I was bullied in school, the other students made fun of me because I couldn’t speak Tagalog and I had an American accent when I spoke English,” Heart revealed wistfully.
Acting gave her the motivation to learn Tagalog and the passion to overcome her initial struggles to fit in. “My siblings were very happy when I started acting because the bullying became a non-issue,” Heart shared with fondness and obvious relief.
Heart went on to become one of the most viable young talents of ABS-CBN and her career soared to dizzying heights, perhaps too much, too soon. She had a colorful career to say the least; she triumphed, she struggled, she forged on and then retreated, she reemerged all in the span of 11 years in the profession she loved dearly. “This time, I intend to stay, ” she declared emphatically, full of confidence, looking at me straight in the eye and flashing her big, bright smile.
THE PHILIPPINE STAR: You said you always wanted to be an actress. What was your first acting experience?
In the Navy: Heart Evangelista dons a nautical-inspired white cotton vintage dress with gold buttons from the ’80s, a gift from her aunt; white leather with stitching open-toe pumps from Zara. Photos by WALTER BOLLOZOSHEART EVANGELISTA: Actually, I got my first taste of acting courtesy of a Rexona deodorant TV commercial when I was 12 years old.
You were such a hit, a household name in showbiz. Why did you take a hiatus and what did you do during that time?
People believed that my relationship at that time was the reason why I took a break but actually it wasn’t; my relationship was just a circumstance of my life at that time. I was burnt out, at 20 years old I was working non-stop and I didn’t get a chance to enjoy being a normal teenager and a young adult. So for three years, I took the time to have a normal life. I hang out with friends, went to the beach, ate out, traveled and did stuff other people my age usually do.
You had a falling out with your mom at that time. How did that feel?
Of course, it was painful because we were very close and she was also my manager but looking back I understand why she felt like that. A few years passed before we actually spoke again. Now, everything is great between us. I have never been happier and more content.
Most Hollywood celebrities have personal stylists especially for red carpet events. Do you have one?
No, I don’t have a personal stylist and never had one. I believe in dressing myself up to express my own personal style.
I saw you at the 30th year anniversary show of Inno Sotto. How did you become his latest muse?
I first met Inno Sotto when I was 18. He made my gown for my debut. We stayed in touch over the years and when I returned to show business and he saw how much I had matured since our first encounter, he asked me to be his muse. It was a pleasure and an honor to be handpicked by Inno Sotto. The experience is one of the most memorable in my life.
In the short film shown during the Inno Sotto fashion show, there were many close-ups of you and I couldn’t help but admire your flawless skin. How do you keep it that way?
Purple heart: The actress rocks this mini purple silk dress from Tyler; grey leather booties by Michael Antonio, accessories by Kikay.I keep a healthy lifestyle despite my hectic schedule so I make sure to eat proper, healthy food and workout as often as I can. I run at least 40 minutes on the treadmill and I do a lot of sit-ups. I also go to Zen Institute for regular laser, hair and facial treatments like diamond peel; having treatments relaxes me as well.
Would you ever consider plastic surgery when you get older?
Nope. Never.
What is your most favorite food? What food do you avoid eating?
I love salads and cheese! I also eat lots of fish, fruits and chicken but hardly any pork or beef. I indulge myself in pasta sometimes but only if it’s the wheat kind; I stay away from fatty and fried food and I never eat rice because it makes me gain weight!
You were once a shopaholic and a great fan of brand name products. Are your fashion preferences still the same?
You know, as a very young celebrity, I went through a Louis Vuitton, Chanel kind of stage but now that I am older and wiser, I realize how important it is to invest my money wisely so I don’t shop like I used to!
How would you describe your everyday style, red carpet style?
My daytime style is casual and smart. My red carpet style would definitely involve an Inno Sotto gown, something simple but elegant.
Are you a high-heels or a flats/ballerinas kind of girl?
It depends on the occasion but normally I wear high-heels.
Has your fashion style changed over the years?
Yes, definitely! When I was young I used to wear lots of colors and way too much accessories. Now, I prefer elegant clothes with the right amount of accessories.
Goddess-like: Heart’s flawless alabaster skin is the perfect canvas for this nude chiffon dress with front draping from Mitch Araullo; Michael Antonio beige strappy high-heels and diamond studs, Heart’s own.Now that you no longer “shop till you drop,” what do you consider your best fashion buys?
My Michael Antonio high-heels and booties because they are stylish and affordable!
Do you do most of your shopping here or abroad?
I love shopping in Hong Kong and the US. I get to buy clothes that are not yet available locally.
Who are your favorite fashion designers?
Inno Sotto is my ultimate favorite Filipino designer. For foreign, I like Oscar dela Renta.
How does it feel to be back in showbiz?
I feel like the Lord wanted me to pursue and achieve my childhood dream, continue where I left off so I am feeling very blessed.
Which do you enjoy doing more, teleseryes or movies?
Both. I love doing drama in any form because it is my forte. I can truly express my passion for the craft in this genre but I think I would have a blast doing comedy.
Valentine’s doubles as your birthday, is that the reason why you’re called Heart?
Actually, Heart is my showbiz name. My real first name is Lovemarie.
Wow, that is a very unique and romantic name! Speaking of romantic, for Valentine’s/birthday, what did your boyfriend, Daniel (Matsunaga) give you?
He gave me a roundtrip ticket to Brazil! I still haven’t used it but I’m hoping on my next longish vacation, we can go together to Brazil.
Drama queen: Heart Evangelista stopped traffic with this long black, flowing silk gown by Inno Sotto for his Rustan’s Muse collection. You were once a very in-demand commercial endorser. Do you have any endorsements in the works?
That’s true. I did quite a number of commercials for consumer brands like Close-Up, Johnson & Johnson, Palmolive and Vaseline. I have a few endorsements currently in the works but they are still confidential.
Every actor/actress has a dream role or the role of a lifetime. What’s yours?
My dream role would be a lead in a romantic movie or love story filmed in Europe!
Which do you prefer, the sea or the mountain, hot or cold weather?
Funny because I love the sea but I prefer the cold weather.
You told me that you would like to have more opportunity to travel. What would be the ultimate vacation experience for you?
My ultimate dream vacation is one that would take me to Europe!
What do you do to relax?
Aside from having treatments at the spa, I enjoy a good read, eating out or bonding with friends.
If you were not an actress, what would you be?
Hmmm…I’d probably be a fashion designer or a veterinarian!
Please finish the following phrases:
There was a time…when I was young and restless!
I believe that…if you delight yourself in the Lord, he will give you the desires of your heart.
I feel like…going on a trip!
A confessed former shopaholic: Heart Evangelista looks simply fab in this batik print one-shoulder top by 3+1 Audrey, Elektra jeans, metallic copper open-toe stilettos by Sergio Rossi and Purple leather oversize bag by YSL; bangles, ring & hoop earrings by Kikay. If there’s one thing… I could wish for, it would be a great big house with a lot of dogs.
Being in love is…like lying on a bed of roses!
The young, beautiful accomplished actress has clearly gotten her youthful angst out of her system and is reaping the rewards of returning to showbiz. In 2009, at the age of 24, she won the Manila Film Festival Best Supporting Actress Award for Mano Po 6 and the Famas Best Actress Award for the movie Ay Ayeng. Today at 26, she is busier than ever with a hit teleserye Dwarfina, a regular hosting gig for Party Pilipinas, several movies under wraps and an upcoming movie, the remake of Temptation Island.
A worrier, a lover and a planner as she described herself (in that order), Heart is in a good, happy place in her life right now, professionally and personally. Her career is on high gear, her family relationship is on solid footing and her love life is abloom, just like a bed of roses.
Gary Valenciano
On February 9, 2007, Boy Abunda’s now-defunct Homeboy paid tribute to the former love teammates Heart Evangelista and John Prats (both born on Valentine’s Day). The episode’s title was “Hapi na, Bertday Pa!” It was actually their second joint TV guesting that year on the show. The first one (entitled “My Heart…My Song”) was aired on January 24, 2007.
The Feb 9th episode was the more memorable one because audiences got to witness a rare and touching moment in which John Prats surprised not only Heart but the audience when he suddenly apologized to Heart for his past mistakes–right in the middle of his birthday wishes for her! It is also the episode where Gary Valenciano (whose wife, Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, was Heart’s manager that time) reminded Heart that her name, Heart Evangelista, had a special meaning behind it. He further gave a hint when he said it was his prayer that she would always continue to grow in the knowledge of God and what He had in store for her.
There is only one way a Christian can interpret what Gary V meant by that.
Let’s have a side trip to the City of Definitions: Dictionary.com/.
(First name)
heart
[hahrt]
The English word for puso (Tagalog).
- noun
1. the center of the total personality, especially with reference to intuition, feeling, or emotion: In your heart you*know I’m an honest man.
2. the center of emotion, especially as contrasted to the head as the center of the intellect: His head told him not to fall in love, but his heart had the final say.
3. capacity for sympathy; feeling; affection: His heart moved him to help the needy.
4. spirit, courage, or enthusiasm: His heart sank when he walked into the room and saw their gloomy faces.
5. the vital or essential part; core: the heart of the matter.
In the Holy Bible, though, the word “heart” has a deeper meaning:
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16: 7
Let’s go to the Bible Dictionary:
Heart definition
*According to the Bible, the heart is the centre not only of spiritual activity, but of all the operations of human life. “Heart” and “soul” are often used interchangeably (Deut. 6:5; 26:16; comp. Matt. 22:37; Mark 12:30, 33), but this is not generally the case. The heart is the “home of the personal life,” and hence a man is designated, according to his heart, wise (1 Kings 3:12, etc.), pure (Ps. 24:4; Matt. 5:8, etc.), upright and righteous (Gen. 20:5, 6; Ps. 11:2; 78:72), pious and good (Luke 8:15), etc. In these and such passages the word “soul” could not be substituted for “heart.” The heart is also the seat of the conscience (Rom. 2:15). It is naturally wicked (Gen. 8:21), and hence it contaminates the whole life and character (Matt. 12:34; 15:18; comp. Eccl. 8:11; Ps. 73:7). Hence the heart must be changed, regenerated (Ezek. 36:26; 11:19; Ps. 51:10-14), before a man can willingly obey God. The process of salvation begins in the heart by the believing reception of the testimony of God, while the rejection of that testimony hardens the heart (Ps. 95:8; Prov. 28:14; 2 Chr. 36:13). “Hardness of heart evidences itself by light views of sin; partial acknowledgment and confession of it; pride and conceit; ingratitude; unconcern about the word and ordinances of God; inattention to divine providences; stifling convictions of conscience; shunning reproof; presumption, and general ignorance of divine things.”
(Last name)
evangelista
[ih-vuhng-e-lis-tuh]
The Spanish word for evangelist (English).
- noun
1. a revivalist or Christian who seeks to reawaken faith.
2. a preacher of the Christian gospel.
3. ( initial capital letter ) any of the writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) of the four Gospels.
4. a person marked by evangelical *enthusiasm for or support of any cause.
5. bringer of good news (the gospel).
From the Bible Dictionary:
Evangelist definition
*a “publisher of glad tidings;” a missionary preacher of the gospel (Eph. 4:11). This title is applied to Philip (Acts 21:8), who appears to have gone from city to city preaching the word (8:4, 40). Judging from the case of Philip, evangelists had neither the authority of an apostle, nor the gift of prophecy, nor the responsibility of pastoral supervision over a portion of the flock. They were itinerant preachers, having it as their special function to carry the gospel to places where it was previously unknown. The writers of the four Gospels are known as the Evangelists.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” – Mark 16: 15-16
What does all this mean to Heartworld and the rest of the world?
That Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we can be saved. For us to be saved, though, we have to have the faith required. And faith resides in the HEART. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). And what is the clearest sign that a person is saved? It is when he cannot help but BRING others the GOOD NEWS (or the gospel) about God sending His only-begotten Son who died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15: 3-4) — just to save the world.
When you honor Christ the Lord as holy, you are doing it with your HEART. And when you defend Him to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, you are bringing them the GOOD NEWS, which is what an evangelist (or EVANGELISTA, in Spanish) does: sharing one’s faith (Matthew 28: 16-20).
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. – 1 Peter 3: 15
Art Evangelista
Speaking of John Prats, it was actually him who spilled the beans to the press how Love Marie Ongpauco got her screen name, Heart Evangelista.
May 2005 Article:
From Abante Online, May 19, 2005:
Remember that time na sa usapan namin ni John Prats, naikuwento niya na on the lookout noon si Love Marie Ongpauco ng screen name at nakita niya ang signboard for artwork jobs sa bandang New Manila, ang sign board ng Art Evangelista?
Kaya Heart Evangelista ngayon ang screen name ni Love Marie Ongpauco.
Final Thoughts
Heart Evangelista was “born,” thanks to Art Evangelista and his billboard.
Heart Evangelista is “born again,” thanks to Gary Valenciano and his way of redirecting our eyes to the truth and gift of the gospel.

A Frankenstein Moment in a ‘Love Story’ Gone Tragic
Before I give you an edited copy of the email I sent to Facebook, let me tell you now how undecided I was about writing this email, much less, sharing it with the rest of you once it’s done.
Who wants to go public about one’s stupidity?
But out of stupidity comes wisdom.
So here goes.
I decided, at first, not to include the actual Facebook accounts–dummy or otherwise–of the hacker. Facebook should take care of the matter first before the hacker did something drastic like deleting our fan page.
But I was way too late.
The two dummy-or-otherwise accounts of the hacker and our precious fan page have now been pronounced by Facebook as unavailable, expired, or private.
“This content is currently unavailable. The page you
requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be
temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may
have expired, or you may not have permission to view
this page.” – Facebook
In the midst of all this–a love story gone tragic comes close to what I have in mind—came this piece of news (an unexpected comfort, to say the least): a fellow Filipino who’s a big Mara Clara fan became a recent victim too. And her fan page has more than 700,000-plus members! Seven times more than what our fan page has! Just imagine how that page owner feels. It must be seven times more painful than what we feel now. To be honest, the feeling is like nothing in this world. One has to go through the ordeal of creating a Facebook fan page first, then go through the experience of being pleasantly surprised at the growing number of members next before one can fully understand what it’s like to be robbed of the right to keep alive something that you started from scratch.
Here’s that Mara Clara fan page: https://www.facebook.com/maraclaratv/.
And here’s that email I sent:
March 4, 2011
Dear Facebook,
I am the creator of the Heart Evangelista Fan Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heart-Evangelista/72475390314?sk=info/), the site dedicated to the Philippine actress, Heart Evangelista. I am also the representative of her official fan club, Heartworld, and I maintain both our Twitter account (http://twitter.com/Heartworld/) and blog account (http://heartworld.net/).
I created the said fan page so that Facebook fans can have a one-stop place to get the latest and most accurate updates on Ms. Evangelista. It’s also the best place to leave messages for her.
Heart Evangelista is one of the biggest stars in the Philippines and her Facebook fan page has almost 100,400 members already. With that number, we cannot just give up a fan page that we have created and lost sleep over just because we have, unfortunately, been hacked.
Yes, we read your statements about Facebook Pages being impossible to hack. But according to news reports, that isn’t the case anymore. Even the fan page of Facebook’s founder himself, Mark Zuckerberg, became a victim of this (http://techcrunch.com/2011/01/25/zuckerberg-fan-page-hack/). We also did a thorough research on what has been happening, and we were dismayed at the growing number of fan and business pages on Facebook whose admins were removed without authority and without their knowledge.
This is what happened to us:
A few months back, I finally decided to add three administrators to help me update and monitor the page. The fan page was getting bigger.
On Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at past 11:00pm (EST), I went to the Heart Evangelista Fan Page and noticed that we had two additional admins. The page now had six admins:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001515500968 (new)
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001963836519 (new)
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1599281908 (added page admin)
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000046148173 (added page admin)
https://www.facebook.com/lyda.ira (added page admin)
https://www.facebook.com/can.elayda (page creator-owner-admin)
The presence of those new admins were a big surprise for me. I was not informed of their addition to the team. But I let it pass because I did remember telling one of the admins that if anyone else would like to volunteer as page administrator, the only requirement is that this person must be a Heartist (a SOLID Heart Evangelista fan).
At almost 1:00am (March 3, 2011), I got a message from one of the admins that she couldn’t access the page. She lost her admin privileges!
I got up and went to Facebook.
It was like a Frankenstein moment. Imagine being removed from your own page. The page you created yourself. I know now the feeling of having created a “monster.”
Shocked and alarmed to discover that I myself couldn’t access the page anymore, I checked Twitter to see what was going on there. I have connected the Heart Evangelista Fan Page to our Twitter account, so that each post on Facebook will automatically update our Twitter counterpart too; this feature has greatly simplified things for us and lessened the burden of constantly updating so many accounts that Heartworld owns.
Here’s what I saw on our Twitter mentions section:
http://twitter.com/ambush007/status/43166444481032192
Ambush007 is a newspaper writer-cartoonist and a member of Heartworld. He was actually referring to a post on our fan page’s wall that also appeared automatically on our Twitter:
http://twitter.com/Heartworld/status/43165882838560768
The post/tweet contains a link and when you click on it, it takes you to a Find Your Stalkers site containing codes that look like hacking codes.
Here are two recent reports on the Find Your Stalkers tool:
http://www.joewein.net/blog/2011/02/24/the-find-your-stalkers-scam/
Two more tweets (sent by our other page admin, Ira) appeared on our Twitter mentions page, further alerting us to the extent of the problem:
http://twitter.com/iamlydz1/status/43172414087110656
http://twitter.com/iamlydz1/status/43172693088010240
It was past 2:00am, that very early morning of March 3, 2011 and there I was, still up and numb to the voice in my head telling me that if I could here the sound of my speeding fingers as they raced to hit the keys on my laptop, so did the others in the house. I tried to contain my fears and asked the other members of Heartworld to wait until after I’ve had enough sleep before we formed any plan of action. Someone said we should contact the hacker. But I disagreed. I was afraid the fan page would disappear into thin air if that happened. It’s not like we know this person and could ask him politely to hand us over the fan page he took from us and assure him that whatever the problem is, we still love him. No, contacting him would only make things worse. I mean, look at that profile page of his again. He’s not on Facebook to be friends with anyone. He doesn’t even have any friends listed anywhere on his page!
That Frankenstein moment kept creeping back every now and then as we looked desperately for a way out.
I finally landed on the website of Black Box Social Media. Their very timely articles (http://blackboxsocialmedia.com/hackers-target-facebook-beware-what-you-click/ and http://blackboxsocialmedia.com/facebook-fan-page-hacked-get-your-page-back-here-5-easy-steps-2/) gave me so much hope that Facebook would help bring the Heart Evangelista Fan Page back to Heartworld.
The itch to keep looking for a better solution that could magically put our page back into our admin hands gave in to the need to rest both mind and body. It could wait. Tomorrow might bring more answers. Except that it was “tomorrow” already by the time my head hit the pillow.
Six hours later, our hacker posted again on our wall on Facebook. Much later that day, we checked the fan page again and saw that the two posts were no longer there. Here are the tweet counterparts of those deleted posts:
http://twitter.com/Heartworld/status/43165882838560768
http://twitter.com/Heartworld/status/43256463614947328
What do these tweets all mean? It means that our Twitter and Facebook accounts are still connected to each other, despite the fact that we lost access to our fan page!
We don’t know how or why but those tweets have given us further reason to hope that all we need to do is to provide Facebook with enough evidence to convince you, guys, that what we claim to be is what we really are: the creator and owner of the Heart Evangelista Fan Page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heart-Evangelista/72475390314?sk=info/).
To prove that, we’re going to create a “connect the dots” version of our association with the actress herself (Heart Evangelista) and her public support and appreciation for Heartworld:
1. Philippines’ leading newspaper, the Inquirer, wrote an article acknowledging that the Twitter username heart021485 belongs to TV-movie actress Heart Evangelista. Another proof that this account is really hers is the number of followers it has, compared to other accounts that either use her screen name (Heart Evangelista) or real name (Love Marie Payawal Ongpauco).
http://twitter.com/heart021485
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1216382/bio
If Facebook USA doesn’t know who Heart Evangelista is, this short film is the best way to introduce the young, gifted actress: http://twitter.com/LiaQuintans07/status/5816357555798016
2. Heart tweeted that she only has one Facebook account and that she uses her real name, Love Marie (Payawal Ongpaoco):
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=731201245
Source: http://twitter.com/heart021485/status/10417988939
3. How do we know that this is the actress’ real Facebook account when there are other Love Marie Payawal Ongpaucos on Facebook too? On Twitter, she described the profile picture she was using at the time of the tweet, dated January 23, 2010. We scanned the said photo and posted it on Heartworld’s website, Heartworld.net. Check the date she uploaded the photo: January 12, 2010.

http://twitter.com/heart021485/status/8133630349
4. My Facebook name is Can Elayda (https://www.facebook.com/can.elayda/). If you check my friends list, you will find the real Love Marie Payawal Ongpauco (or Heart Evangelista) on it. You will also find her name on the members lists of both the Heart Evangelista Fan Page and the Heartworld Fan Page. Just go to her profile page under the Activities and Interests category.
I also write articles for Heartworld.net, occasionally using my name.
I am only adding Item No. 4 on this list to prove that Heartworld did get Heart’s stamp of approval when she herself became a member of these Heartworld-created fan pages. Our being friends on Facebook also means that she acknowledges my active involvement in helping Heartworld become her security blanket whenever she’s bombarded with negative write-ups, and in spreading Heartworld’s wings outside of Pinoy Exchange (when I opened WordPress, Facebook, and Twitter accounts for the fan club). Being everywhere on the Internet is Heartworld’s way of protecting her from the Goliaths of this world.

5. Our blog, Heartworld.net, has on its sidebar the links to its two Fan Pages on Facebook: the Heart Evangelista Fan Page, and the Heartworld Fan Page. If you check the posts on our blog, you will find out that the same blog posts can be found on either of the two Fan Pages, most especially on the Heart Evangelista Fan Page, where the Notes section holds a lot of the longer posts from our blog.

Heartworld.net wouldn’t be able to add the Facebook codes on its sidebar if Heartworld didn’t own or have access to the Heart Evangelista Fan Page. Why? Because the said codes were generated automatically by Facebook itself. And only page admins can get the codes.
6. On the Info page of the Heart Evangelista Fan Page, you will see all of our sister sites, and at the bottom of that page is a link to our official website:

7. Click on that Pinoy Exchange link above and it will take you to our Heartworld thread on the forum. Notice the date that tells you it’s not our most recent thread.
I became so busy with other things that I forgot to remind the other Facebook page admins to keep updating our Info page every time we open a new thread. At Pinoy Exchange, a thread will be closed after it reaches 5,000 posts or 250 pages. Right now, the current Heartworld thread there is Part 189.
8. When we opened the Heartworld Part 188 thread, I thought of polishing the way we promoted our sites. We needed to increase people’s awareness that Heartworld was growing bigger, so we added the current number of fan club members and the URL as an invitation to Pinoy Exchange lurking fans to go to their Facebook and join us.
Check the date of the Heartworld Part 188 thread when it was first opened: February 17, 2011.
We got hacked last March 2, 2011, between 11:00pm and 11:30pm (EST).
Now, check again the banner we posted on the HW 188 thread. It’s the same banner we used for our fan page’s profile pic. We uploaded that banner on Facebook last February 20, 2011.
We got hacked last March 2, 2011, between 11:00pm and 11:30pm (EST).

9. Heart is very familiar with Pinoy Exchange. Pre-Twitter days, she was posting a lot on our threads as bebelove. She didn’t hide that fact in one of her tweets:
http://twitter.com/heart021485/status/5485553010
Here’s her first post on our thread on Pinoy Exchange:

Twitter has changed the face of the way we communicate with one another, especially the way stars communicate with their fans, and vice versa.
Thanks to Twitter and Facebook, Heart is no longer as active as before on Pinoy Exchange (PEX). But even so, she doesn’t hide the fact that she still lurks to check on us. Check out this video that tells the whole world how much of a PEX lurker she is: http://twitter.com/heart021485/status/39904581223718914
What’s touching about Heart is that she still remembers who we are and is very vocal about her love for Heartworld. See these tweets and read the names of some of the old members of Heartworld:

10. The real Heart Evangelista or @heart021485 follows us on Twitter. This alone should help authenticate our claims and further our case.

Latest update: The hacker hasn’t rested. He posted twice on our fan page’s wall today, March 4, 2011, which automatically appeared on our Twitter account:
http://twitter.com/Heartworld/status/43591219565166592
http://twitter.com/Heartworld/status/43602665338445824
Source: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heart-Evangelista/72475390314?sk=wall
Judging from the way he has been behaving these past two days, we expect those two posts to be deleted tomorrow. That’s all he wants to use the page for: to keep posting the same old post with the same old link, just in case he might entice more innocent members of the Heart Evangelista Fan Page to try the application being offered for free.
Why our page? It’s obvious. A Facebook fan page with almost 100,400 members is a good place to test their hacking capabilities. The more members one has, the better. Our fan page happens to be a very active place with people leaving comments all the time. Oh, yes…where is the fun if there are no active members who visit every day and can be fooled to click on a dangerous link?
Facebook needs to address this widespread problem and act NOW. Look, one of the hacker’s dummy accounts has been deactivated already:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001515500968
Please check and monitor this remaining account before the hacker deactivates it and creates another account to run our fan page (or worse—DELETE our page!):
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001963836519
It breaks our hearts to see the Heart Evangelista Fan Page be used continually as a way to lure people to become spammers. And it bleeds our hearts to read the line found at the bottom of that Find Your Stalkers page:
“Remember, this tool is for entertainment purposes only.”
We hope and pray that you will take our request SERIOUSLY. Please act promptly by helping us gain back our stolen fan page. You cannot keep letting hackers entertain themselves this way. It has to stop. Not only is it illegal or wrong. It’s inhumane.
Finally, there’s one way to determine whether I do represent Heartworld or not. Facebook could temporarily follow us on Twitter and Heartworld would do the same. That way, we can exchange direct messages (DM) and prove our identity. If http://twitter.com/facebook is Facebook’s official Twitter account, please follow us here: http://twitter.com/Heartworld/.
Thank you and God bless you.
Sincerely,
Can Elayda

Among the few investments
Daniel Matsunaga has made
in the Philippines is his car,
a Mitsubishi Montero, which
he bought only last November.
“I’m still paying for it,” he
tells PEP while driving.

Daniel Matsunaga is undoubtedly one of the most-sought after male models in the country today. Barely two years after he first came to our land, the 22-year-old Brazilian-Japanese hunk is now enjoying leading man status in showbiz, countless endorsements, and a loving girlfriend to boot.
“Ang maganda sa kanya, hindi pa siya showbiz,” says Maffy Silvala, Daniel’s talent handler, in an exclusive interview on February 12.
According to Maffy, who handles the model-actor for Mercator Model Management, Inc., Daniel came to the Philippines only on September 2009. His personality has remained the same since then.
“He’s very simple and humble,” adds Maffy.
Here are ten more things you probably don’t know about Daniel Matsunaga:
1. Daniel did not plan to become a model. When he was 15 years old, a friend of her older sister, who was already a model, invited him to try the profession.
“I said, ‘Okay, why not?’ Di ba? It’s just like free job. When I’m not doing anything, why not?” Daniel tells PEP.
2. Daniel was already a famous model before he came to the Philippines. After starting his modeling career in Brazil, he moved to different countries to find success.
“Singapore, Thailand. Yeah, a lot. More than 20 countries,” he says.
After a few years, he went to Hong Kong and became a top model there. That’s why he did not want to come to the Philippines, at first.
Maffy explains, “He was hesitant pa nga to leave Hong Kong ’cause he’s doing good. But he promised his sister na, ‘Okay, let’s try Philippines, for probably, two months. If the market is not good there, I’m going back to Hong Kong.’”
3. Daniel is very religious. He believes it was a message from God who sent him to the Philippines.
“In Hong Kong, my sister Vanessa told me God showed in her prayer that we should come to the Philippines. So we came here,” Daniel says, adding that it was one of the wisest decisions he has ever made.
He now regularly attends Christian services in The Fort with his girlfriend, Heart Evangelista.
4. Daniel will do anything for his family. One of his happiest moments in the country, he says, was when he was able to bring his family to the Philippines from Brazil for his sister’s wedding, last December.
He also sends money to his family from time to time.
“When my family need it, I just help them. So I always did, and my family always did it for me. So… When I was with them, at 16, they always help me with everything. My father gave everything he could to help me with my whole career, my study. My sister also. Everything. For sure, if I can, I will do everything for them too, you know?” he says.
5. Daniel likes speaking Tagalog. According to Maffy, Daniel instantly picked up Tagalog words in his first month in the Philippines. His favorite words?
“‘Hay naku.’ That’s his favorite Tagalog expression,” says Maffy.
The talent handler said Daniel also likes saying “Gutom ako.”
6. Daniel is very frugal. Daniel says he has a lot of bills to pay, so he spends his money wisely.
“Because I’m really saving, I’m really saving. My car now, you have to pay a lot of things a lot of bills,” he says.
7. Daniel does not like driving in the Philippines. Daniel learned to drive in Brazil, so he takes his home country’s traffic rules to heart. This is why he finds it hard to drive in Manila.
In particular, he wonders why almost every driver in the country honks their horns every so often. “How would you know if it’s an emergency?” he asks.
He also does not like the heavy traffic, and the seeming disregard for traffic rules. However, he thinks the situation is worse in India. “If you can drive there, you can drive anywhere,” he says.
8. Daniel is kind and very, very patient. Walking around Greenbelt mall in Makati, Daniel did not refuse any request to sign an autograph, or to take a picture with him. He also remembers all the endorsements and commercial modeling he has done, and is grateful for them.
In particular, he showed PEP a stall inside the model that uses his picture to sell condominium units. The attendants there were surprised when Daniel said hello to them.
He also asked PEP not to write about an endorsement and modeling deal gone bad, that he continues to patiently follow up. “I don’t want to put it out in the media,” he says.
9. Who are Daniel’s best friends in showbiz? “Marami,” he says, but he particularly mentioned Machete actor Aljur Abrenica, whom he has worked with in The Last Prince.
10. Daniel will do anything to land the cover of Men’s Health. Daniel tells PEP, “Bakit wala pa kong cover sa Men’s Health o sa Summit?”
Men’s Health, a fitness magazine for men, is one of the many magazines under Summit Media, also PEP’s home company.
Daniel says it is a dream of his to grace Men’s Health’s cover, one of these days. “I will even work out for three weeks non-stop to be in the cover,” he says.
The magazine’s current cover is his friend Aljur Abrenica.
